I started blogging in 2007. I wrote about my motherland, about its history, art, cuisine, traditions and landscapes. I wrote about memorable dates in history of Azerbaijan, wrote about feelings and friends. Never about hatred.
I am Azerbaijani. My strengths and weaknesses are the strengths and weaknesses of my nation. One of my strengths is that I am peaceful, I can live with anyone, I am tolerant, hurting people does not excite me.
Growing older I realised that this can be advantageous for those with the agenda.
Azerbaijan located in the middle of powerful egos always looked, had to look for ways to be able to live with all. This strategy was never about creating some sort of terroristic organisation; this strategy was always about trying to live with all as peacefully as possible. One can call this as being too soft. I call this wisdom and good karma for future generations. To date Azerbaijan is as multinational as any place could be. Azerbaijan never boasted about being multinational as it is natural. Being humane is natural. In fact Azerbaijan never boasted about anything. Neither about its art, culture, cuisine nor about its talented people. This is called being humble. Apparently this character has never been popular either historically not in modern life. Azerbaijan is learning and developing.
Soviet era left Azerbaijan with big issues, both psychologic and economic. Becoming independent came with cost. Unfortunately the most serious issues came from close neighbours, from those who always lived and enjoyed wealth and hospitality of Azerbaijan, its land and its people. Amazingly sometimes hospitality and kindness irritate some people. Instead of living together and enjoying peace and life, self-interest, greediness and cruelty comes into the agenda.
20% of the territory of Azerbaijan including Nagorno Karabakh and neighbouring regions is occupied. Etymology of the world known words Nagorno Karabakh is Turkic and means Mountainous Black Garden. The fact that whole world knows the Russian translation of this toponym is another example of wounded history of Azerbaijan. All toponyms used to be firstly translated to the language of big brother, Russian and then broadcasted to the world. The occupied land is called Dağlıq Qarabağ.
I am not subjective and I am sharing UN resolutions underlining that Azerbaijani lands are occupied lower.
For more than 25! years Azerbaijan is in ceasefire situation. Soldiers get killed on the border by sniper almost every month. Civilian residents living on the boarder line used to continue with their lives hoping for the better. Until early April 2016 when weapons targeted civilians and Azerbaijan decided to respond. Young, handsome and great sons whom mothers nurtured for years and years got killed in just couple of days of war.
Why can’t people stay humane. Live side by side. Be civilized. Who can be happy on occupied land. No one. What goes around comes around. Aggression cannot bring happiness. It can bring happiness to a single person but not to the whole nation, its children and grandchildren. It never did in history. Universe does not run like that.
In fact wars in XXI century do not cease. Humanity became so rich and ruthless that arms are sold to all and wars are “promoted” for self-interest be it personal or country interest. Ceasefires are also not working because risk is always there and everyone with evil agenda will use it against one or the other person and nation. In this generation or next generation. Countries won’t be able to spread their wings until this pain and horror is part of their history.
Anyone who loves his/her children and nation in neighboring country of Azerbaijan must sit at the table and make certain decisions. No ego will suffer. The one who is able to make decisions on peace will stay in history for good. There is always a chance to stay in history either as Hitler or Kennedy. Either as someone who extended war or as someone who brought peace. We can all be wrong but history never is. There is no point in spreading or fueling hatred and pain. Country is like an individual. Individual that lives with hatred can never be a happy person. The same is about countries. The very same.
Occupied neighboring regions of Azerbaijan must be liberated. Dağlıq Qarabağ (Nagorno Karabakh) must be liberated and everyone who wants would have a chance to live in Dağlıq Qarabağ (Nagorno Karabakh) just like we live in Azerbaijan now. It may seem impossible but as we all now “when there is a will, there is a way”. We have chance to leave behind to our children peace. We - thinking people, loving people, mothers, parents, cyvilised people...There is a way, peaceful way.
